Justice John: I take my
In his statement the Commissioner of Police made reference to my presence at the Chief Justice’s residence at the time the police were purporting to execute a warrant.
His statement said, in part, and I quote “During that time Justice of Appeal John placed a call to a judge who ordered the police officers not to proceed.”
That statement by the Commissioner of Police is totally untrue and clearly intended to mislead the public. I am very mindful of my role as a Judge of the Court of Appeal and I have always taken my oath as a judge as sacrosanct.
I therefore take this opportunity to place on record that I never made a call to any judge, nor did I speak with any Judge. Further, I never intervened in any way to prevent the arrest of the Chief Justice.
