Dhansook’s relatives in court today
Dhansook’s relatives — a 28-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy — were arrested by Rio Claro police and charged with using obscene language. Dhansook, Newsday was told, was at the scene of the arrest.
Dhansook, local government councillor for Ecclesville, shot to the limelight after he accused former Works Minister and PNM Chairman Franklin Khan, and Energy Minister Eric Williams of corruption.
Khan and Williams are currently before the courts on corruption charges.
The incident involving Dhansook’s relatives occurred about 1.45 am outside a bar at Naparima Mayaro Road, Clear Water Village, where police were responding to a report of a wounding at the bar.
Reports said that a fight broke out between two men and police were called to the scene, when according to reports, Dhansook’s relatives arrived at the scene in a silver Frontier.
Police reports stated the 16-year-old boy alighted from the vehicle and began cursing loudly in the presence of policemen. The boy’s 28-year-old female relative also began cursing loudly, reports said.
The report also stated that police cautioned the two and told them of the offence committed. They were subsequently arrested and charged for using obscene language.
Newsday was told Dhansook also arrived at the scene and spoke to his two relatives and lawmen about the matter. However, the two were arrested and taken to the Rio Claro Police Station where PC Gadar laid the charge.
While at the police station, a 17-year-old boy of Campbell Trace, Rio Claro, arrived and also began cursing loudly, reports said. He too was slapped with a charge of using obscene language.
