Doubles vendors beaten, robbed

Krishna Sahadeo, 33, was chopped on the arm while his wife Sharda, 31, was “planassed” (beaten with the flat side of a cutlass) by the two bandits who held them up at their Bhagwansingh Trace home.

The couple told police that about 3.55 am they were in the kitchen preparing the indian delicacy for sale when they were confronted by the bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun and the other, with a cutlass. Sources said the cutlass-wielding bandit attacked the couple while the other ransacked the house and stole a DVD player, an air-rifle and a quantity of alcohol worth $3,000 before escaping.

The couple contacted Gasparillo police and PC Keith Ifill and others arrived and carried out a futile search for the bandits.

The couple was taken to San Fernando General hospital for treatment. Up to late yesterday, no arrests were made and Ifill is continuing investigations.
