Institute launches TT section

Although the section was initially approved by the IEEE board of directors on November 12, 2005, the recent launch celebrated the official inauguration of the smallest section and country to join the IEEE Region nine - Latin America and Caribbean Group.

In attendance were immediate past president of the IEEE, Cleon Anderson and the Institute’s Director and Vice-President Regional Activities Pedro Ray. As one of the feature speakers, Anderson gave a moving account of the importance of electrical engineers and the significant contributions they have made and continue to make to our society.

Fellow IEEE member, Professor Kenneth Julien addressed the group and reminisced on his teaching days at the university as a young engineer and the incredible changes that the profession has enjoyed over time.

The IEEE, which boasts a membership of over 360, 000 engineers in over 150 countries. It is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology.
