Defense attorneys for PC Vaughan Thomas — Nigel Hughes, Roger Yearwood of Guyana and Sean Cazabon of Trinidad, gave a two-hour submission inferring that the Guyanese Court of Appeal erred in its decision to uphold Thomas’ conviction. Their Honours also foudn that the magistrate in the case also erred by misdirecting the jury. Prosecuting attorneys’ Jo-Ann Barlow and Candace Raphael both of Guyana, defended the practices of the Guyanese Judaical system and Police Service, but failed to impress their Honours.
