Evening of style

Among those present at the celebrations was Pennelope Beckles, Minister of Public Utilities and the Environment. Beckles gave her closing remarks reflecting on the history, freedom and our struggle for togetherness as African people. Beckles also participated in the fashion show and created a hearty uproar among the audience with her outfit. The African clothing was supplied by Nayamkah’s of Capital Plaza, Port-of-Spain.

Guest Speaker Kafra Kambon, president of the Emancipation Support Committee, addressed the causes of the ills in society. He said that police action is not going to resolve the problem but people should try to believe in themselves and convert their minds. Kambon said that emancipation tries to reach the soul and it is a time for reflection and to celebrate our achievement and our trials over suffering.
