African food on display

The theme of the food fair was “Ibi Idana” which means “Food Fuh So.” The most popular were the Ghana and Ethiopian food stalls. At the Ghana stall, Grace Adover served spicy fried plaintain, pepper soup and a very interesting version of callaloo.

“This is food everyone would enjoy,” she said.

The Ethiopian stall was filled with patrons attracted by the smell of the Ethiopian sauce and Injara, a vegetable filled bread. One woman described it as very tasty.

Tobago was represented by Maria Julien who offered mouth watering crab and dumpling, provision and fish and very tasty bake and shark.

“People just keep coming back for more,” Julien commented.

The Agricultural Society of Trinidad and Tobago also participated with a display of vegetables including plaintain, green fig and dasheen. A locally made relish and salsa were also on sale.

There were also African motifs, textiles and designs along with jewelry and musical instruments on sale.
