Premier Mall boosts House of Dread

The HOD’s main aims and objectives include promotion and protection of the interests and welfare of the members and to provide opportunities for the development of their various skills. The club encourages members to become responsible citizens within their respective communities and to promote local, regional and international sporting disciplines on an amateur level.

At its inception, the club also identified and developed role models for all youths on and off the fields of play in the society.

The HOD has made great strides in the realm of football ever since its establishment in 1994.

In its very first year of competition the HODFT entered competitions organised by the Eastern Football Association (EFA) and wound up as first runner-up in the League competition, second runner-up on the FA and third runner-up in the League Championship, qualifying for the National FA Competition.

In subsequent years it was decided to ensure future success of the senior team by building a base with the youth teams in the Under-12 and Under-14 age groups. In 1996 the 12 and Under team became the Eddie Hart League Champions, and the 14 and Under teams were runners-up and then champions the following year. This was followed by the Under-14 team forging ahead to become Republic Bank League third runners-up in 1998 and going on to enter the 1998 Eddie hart and EFA Under-14 and Under-16 competitions.

By 2003 the youth teams were now ready to move into the senior team level and this transition resulted in the most successful period in the history of the club. In 2004 they became the UWI League Second Division Champions, and were promoted to First Division, with player Winston Beraza voted UWI League’s most valuable player.

They were also Eddie Hart League Champions for the first time since 1995, a feat repeated in 2005.

That year saw further success as St Joseph League Champions, EFA League Champions and they were joint winners of the National Champions of Champions Super League qualifiers.

The team has been promoted to TTFF Super League for the 2006 season and is preparing to build on the success of the past ten years by further investment in their youth programme. Impressed with their sustained commitment to youth in their community, Premier Mall has made a donation to help the HOD club reintroduce its successful youth programmes at the Under-14, Under-16 and Under 18 levels of football.
