Woman stabbed to death in Gonzales
Her murder is the 229th for the year.
Elna Jaggernath was at home with three of her five children ages six to 17, when she was confronted by a man.
Reports revealed that the man had an argument with Jaggernath and then dealt her several stabs.
She ran out of the apartment on to the roadway clutching her chest and alerted neighbours. A neighbour took Jaggernath to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Yesterday, the apartment where the stabbing took placed remained locked.
Neighbours of the dead woman said that she was originally from Sangre Grande and only moved into the apartment four months ago. They claimed that the unemployed woman never complained of any problems and was romantically linked to a PH taxi driver.
Police investigators told Newsday that based on statements received from two persons an arrest is imminent.
