UWI med students get full credits

CAAM-HP which was established in 2004 by Caricom as a regional accreditation body for medical programmes, applauded UWI students for their excellence in the university’s medical programme which is taught throughout UWI’s Mona (Jamaica), St Augustine (TT), Cave Hill (Barbados) and Nassau (Bahamas) campuses.

In a letter to UWI vice-chancellor Prof Nigel Harris, CAAM-HP officials stated their astonishment that UWI graduates still continued to achieve high marks even up to the time of their graduation.

Results were derived via a full report prepared by Prof David Hawkins of the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools, who led a team of invigilators put together by the International Medical Educators Committee. CAAM-HP started the accreditation process in July 2005 with the team doing a year long examination of UWI’s academic staff, educational resources, medical students and services.
