Worst Company Award
THE EDITOR: We all can identify the leaders in each business here in TT. We know who is the superpower in insurance. We know who makes 95 percent of the bread and who is the leader in the fast food industry. Most of us read the same newspaper, use the same catsup and even drink the same soft drink. But which company causes us the most grief? Who gives us headaches and makes us scream with aggravation?
Well, in everyday conversation two names come up more than any others — TSTT and Columbus Cable! But, who is the worst? Surely they have their similarities!
While TSTT is hard to beat with endless dropped calls, Columbus blocks out major sporting events. Columbus has those remotes that work when they want, similar to TSTT handsets. What about their familiar tag-lines? “B-mobile” should be called “Im-mobile” just like “Flow” should be renamed “Slow.”
You ever tried to call TSTT? Useless. I have been put on hold to “maintain my call priority” and been told to “call back another time” and hung up on. All this after dialling a series of voice recorded commands. Now, this is serious, because this is a telecommunications company — their business is communication and they don’t even have a proper phone system? Then again, there is the cable company whose picture sticks — I might as well be looking at the radio. But they sure keep us on our toes when sometimes they switch it up and the pictures are going but with no sound. I feel that the people who are stealing cable are the only ones getting their money’s worth.
Surely you have many of your own painful experiences, which I hate to make you relive but as this draws to an end I feel that TSTT could have the edge as the worst company simply due to the fact that they have been here for so long and hire so many people.
But then we must consider that they are partially government owned and we know the sorry state that the Government has this country in. So, with this in mind, I feel that “the worst company in TT award” should go to Columbus Cable because they are a privately owned, regional organisation and should do better!
