Ministry sends counsellor for child

The counsellor visited the child who has been traumatised and asking the whereabouts of the twins.

The social worker, who asked not to be identified, told Newsday the ministry offers counselling free of charge to those people who may need it and she was asked by her superiors to offer the counselling to the family.

The six-year-old was last Monday left home alone with the twins after the grandmother left to visit a therapist. The six-year-old decided to bathe the twins in the bathtub and unaware of the danger, left Tylin and Tylar in the tub to answer the telephone.

When the child returned to the tub, she found the twins’ bodies under the water; she removed them from the tub, towel-dried them, dressed them and placed them on a bed where she then tried to feed the twins.

Yesterday, Janine Campbell, mother of the dead twins who failed to return home in time to witness the autopsies, was still trying to get a flight to Trinidad from New York.

Yesterday, Cpl Christopher Fuentes, lead investigator in the drowning, was still preparing a file to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) seeking guidance in the matter.

Newsday learnt that a charge of abandonment could be laid against someone in such a probe.
