Lara is TTCB ‘International Cricketer’

Lara got the nod after leading West Indies to victory in the one-day series against Zimbabwe and India in the Caribbean.

The executive of the local board named TT skipper Daren Ganga, who guided the country to a notable regional double success in 2005/2006, “National Senior Cricketer of the Year.”

And former TT and West Indies wicketkeeper David Williams, coach of the team got the Board President’s Award which was being handed out for the first time.

Promising off-spinner Sunil Narine, who will lead this country’s challenge in the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 tournament, which bowls off in Guyana tomorrow, was named “National Youth Cricketer of the Year.”

TT all-rounder Samuel Badree captured the coveted Carib National Cricket League “Cricketer of the Year” title, while national opening batsman Mario Belcon was voted “Most Outstanding Player” in the Carib Sunday League.

CLICO Preysal and TT middle-order batsman Shazan Babwah got the “Most Outstanding Player” award in the inaugural Carib Shield 20/20 tournament.

And manager Omar Khan received the “Administrator of the Year” award.
