‘God’s messenger’ grounds Tobago Express flight

According to official reports, Tobago Express flight 1533 was departing Crown Point at approximately 12.15 pm, when the pilot announced that the aircraft would not be completing the journey.

A passenger told Newsday that the aircraft was already on the runway when the announcement was made. The passenger, who requested anonymity, said a young woman dressed in vest and jeans and wearing a hijab approached the flight attendant with a note bearing “a message from God.”

The contents of that note were enough to have the pilot announce that the aircraft would not be leaving as scheduled and to start evacuation.

The passenger said that it was only then that pilot informed them of a threat to the plane.

She said there was a surprising air of composure among the passengers who calmly departed the craft. Security personnel were alerted and checks were made on the aircraft, however nothing was found.

The young woman was taken into custody and transferred to the Scarborough General Hospital for evaluation.

Flight 1533 departed Crown Point shortly after 3 pm.

The incident also caused several Tobago Express flights to be delayed by several hours, which did not bear well with several angry passengers.

Up to late yesterday evening, the flights were not yet back on schedule.
