Mr Boynes, please help

I however was an unfortunate flood victim whose home was covered in water three-four feet high for days. It has been nine months and I have not received any sort of relief from the Government. I have tried and my pleas have just fallen on deaf ears. No one was present at home when the rush of water came in and destroyed our valuable furniture and appliances. Another neighbour however is in a similar situation such as myself and no one seems to care for us.

Our MP, Mr Roger Boynes was standing in front my home situated at Vega De Oropouche Junction on the second day of the flood and assured me that compensation would be granted in some way. Yes, compensation was granted to some who suffered genuine loss (even to some homes that were not affected by the flood) and to others such as myself we just had to stand our losses for ourselves. Oh, did I mention that I am a young married woman who just started putting my home together? And my loss is deeply felt.

Editor, many of the unfortunate villagers submitted flood relief forms and apparently they were washed away along with our furniture and appliances.

After four months I requested help from the Social Welfare Department in my district, an officer visited my home and accessed my losses. The officer sympathised with me after he viewed my distressed home. He however did a report for the Head Office, who was in control of the relief grant, attached was a report from the Village Council president who saw the loss also. However after two weeks the Social Welfare Head Department told the officer my form was not approved. Who am I supposed to turn to. . . ? Who’s really in charge. . .?

Does our MP really care for us? Is he really the caring person he has proposed to be? Mr Roger Boynes, the rainy season has already started, please I beg you to seek your people’s interest now, not only for election when you need us. We put you there for a reason, we need you too.
