‘Trini’ song with a new beat

The Arima-based duo said the single has a mainstream pop appeal with a hint of calypso and soca. The single was mixed by Alan Brizan who, along with Reid, also produced the track.

Reid said, “The song is very lyrically-based and its sound is very different. We are still promoting Trinidadian music, but in a different way. A way in which it would appeal to people internationally.”

“This is a song that Trinis could dance to and they could relate to,” said Navarro who is a former member of the group 2Edge. “With the whole wave of football fever and celebration of Trini pride that took place with the Soca Warriors, we thought that this would be the best time to release the single. We wanted to highlight the fact that being a Trini is a great thing and that we shouldn’t lose the pride that we feel now and that we should always feel happy to be Trinis,” he said.

Though an official launch of the single is still in the works, the single is already getting some attention. The duo will perform the song at the Arima Borough Fest celebrations on Sunday and the single is set to debut on Wack 90.1 FM. The duo also has plans to shoot a video in the near future.
