Body found in East Dry River

Officers arrived on the scene about 10.40 am. Police sources said the corpse bore several cuts and bruises about the body, but police could not say if this was caused by foul play, if the man had those bruises before he died or if they were caused by the body being washed down the river following recent rainfall.

Police are now calling on members of the public to assist them in identifying the man whose body was removed to the Port-of-Spain mortuary. Firemen secured the body with ropes and pulled it out of the river.

Officers said once a proper identification is made, an autopsy will be carried out to ascertain cause of death. Investigations are continuing.
