Army, NFM b-ballers tangle

In their meeting earlier in the season, the Army/Coastguard combination outfit won, beating their arch-rival Flour Mills 87-72.

Meanwhile, Detour Shak Attack, the reigning national champion team, won their match on Friday night against Caledonia Clippers 81-77.

Trinidad and Tobago forward Kirt Christian topped Shak Attack’s scoring with 22 points, while team skipper Kevin Blugh and the 2005 MVP of the sport Kenneth Roberts contributed 14 and 11 points respectively.

National centre Miguel Williams top-scored with 30 for Caledonia Clippers before he was fouled out with six minutes to play. He was well-supported by forward Simon Moreno, who scored 13.

At the end of the first quarter, Shak Attack was in the lead, 21-18. By the end of the second quarter, the Clippers had gained a narrow lead, 41-36.

The Clippers maintained this lead and finished the third quarter leading 66-61.

Although the Clippers led after the second and third quarters, Shack Attack came back and were able to prevail in the end 81-77.
