One victim still in serious condition

Kiran Maharaj, one of the 12 persons injured in the accident remained in serious condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. Maharaj suffered severe head injuries in the accident.

Reports revealed that at about 6 pm, he was proceeding in a westerly direction along the CR Highway in the vicinity of Nestle when he lost control of his car which crashed into a lamppost.

The car crossed the median and crashed into five vehicles heading in an easterly direction.

The accident caused traffic to back up to the lighthouse in Port-of-Spain for more than three hours.

Officers of the St Joseph Police Station are investigating.
