‘Juve,’ Tigers scrape
Willan Garcia scored in the 54th minute to give “Juve” the victory over Oropouche United at the Petrotrin Fyzabad Recreation ground on Saturday.
And Kevon Luke got the only goal of the match for Tigers to edge Firechief at the same venue on Sunday.
In Under-16 action, Pepper Village Ball Players edged New City FC 4-3 in a match in which fortunes swung from one team to the other. Samual John got the ball into the net for Pepper Village inside the first minute of play, only for Kevin Charles to find the equaliser for New City in the 21st.
Aaron Flemming scored in the 23rd minute to give New City the lead, and when Charles completed his double in the 50th, it appeared they were onl the road to victory. But Simba Cross pulled one back in the 52nd minute and Nicholas Lake snatched what turned out to be the winning goal in the 59th.
Also on Sunday, Princes Town United and New Commers played to a 3-3 draw.
The Princes Town youths led 3-0 on goals by Shemilon Dyer in the 4th minute, Jerome Peters in the 14th and Michael Lawrence in the 34th.
But New Commers battled back to reduce the deficit on a double by Gabriel Noel in the 38th and 42nd minutes, before Vaughn Goodridge scored in the 47th minute for a share of the points. Tomorrow’s league fixture: New Commers vs New City, at Petrotrin Fyzabad ground, 4 pm.
