Cricketers off to Antigua, St Lucia

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-17s headed to Antigua, the host island of the just concluded Stanford Twenty/20 tournament which Guyana won, defeating TT in the final on Sunday.

The Under-17s are to play a series of matches against Antigua and will be led by former Under-15 captain Kjorn Ottley of Queen’s Royal College (QRC).

The team will also include talented young players Ako George, Javid Boodram, Kareem Jumadeen and Marc Evin Moffett. Also the Under-14s went off to St Lucia and is being skippered by Yanick Cariah, the current Under-15 batsman.

The team also includes Ricardo Maikoo who is also an Under-15 player.

Recently a national Atlantic LNG Primary Schools League team returned home from a tour of St Vincent.

In a release yesterday the TTCB said the tours are among several new initiatives which are being undertaken by the Youth Development Committee of the cricket board. Among the other programmes are the Star Programme for Form One students and the High Performance Centres which have been targeting Under-15 cricketers.
