Eastern win in Inter Bank football
Striker Oken Peters came on as a second half substitute and scored a hat-trick to assure the champs three points. Lawrence George got the lone item for the RBTT men.
In another match when the league opened last Friday, Aero Services and Republic Bank played out to a 2-2 draw. This was the second match of the double-header at Malabar. Anton Marin and Mark Britto got the goals for Aero Services which were cancelled out from items by Akil Fernandes and an unfortunate own goal.
At the Republic Bank Ground in Barataria, Citigroup hammered seven unanswered goals past Tatil, to cop their first three points of the competition.
Midfielder Marc Anatol scored the second hat-trick of the tournament and was followed by a double by Rodney Phillips.
Former national midfielder Alvin Thomas and Rene Reid got the other goals for the Republic Bank men. In another match Central Bank thrashed First Citizens Bank (FCB) 4-0 and also got off to the start they were hoping for. Darren Castillo, Kirk Cudjoe, Daryl Gouveia and Keston Wright scored a goal each for the winners.
The competition continues today with four matches: RBTT vs Citigroup (2 pm); Eastern Credit Union vs Central bank (4 pm), Republic Bank Grounds; FCB vs Scotiabank (2 pm); UTC vs Republic bank (4 pm), Mt St Benedict.
