The biggest winner on the tote yesterday was the filly Rusalka who scored a surprise half length victory in the 1200 metres Optional Claiming race, to reward backers with $24.40 and $4.70.

Ichiban also surprised in the day’s opener winning by 2 1/4 lengths to give backers $20.90 and $6.30 on the tote.

Next race day is Independence Day, August 31, when the Independence Cup over 1800 metres on the turf course will be the feature with the Santa Rosa Classic over 1200 metres for three-year-olds the sub-feature.
