Young mom held with cocaine

Police said that at about midday yesterday, they intercepted the car in front of the Couva Police Station on the Southern Main Road.

A party of police officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a quantity of cocaine. The drug, a police report stated, had a street value of $50,000.

The woman, from Port-of-Spain, is expected to be taken before a magistrate today in the Couva Magistrates Court. She was expected to be charged yesterday evening with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. A police report stated that after receiving information, a party of police officers, led by ASP Terry Khan and Sgt Danny Ramlogan, conducted an exercise along Old Southern Main Road.

At about 12.30 pm, police intercepted a red car, which the female suspect was driving.

Police officers caused the vehicle to stop and upon conducting a search, found a black plastic bag in the driver’s seat. The female suspect was arrested and taken into the Couva Police Station where the charge was laid by Cpl Bobby Noyan.
