National Security Minister —a mediocre cadet

Joseph was delivering the feature address at the first ever presentation of the newly sanctioned Caribbean Cadet Medal.

The event, which took place at the Combined Services Officer’s Mess in St James, saw 19 senior Cadet Force officers being awarded with the medal which recognises, “serving or retired officers who have rendered loyal, dedicated and outstanding service to Cadet Forces throughout the Caribbean region.”

“If not for the Cadet Force I would not be where I am today,” declared Joseph. He then went on to explain that he was raised on George Street at a time when older persons would chastise poorly behaved youths by saying, “You acting like you from George Street.” The Cadet experience allowed him to overcome the embarrassment which he felt. Joseph gave assurance that while in office he would do all in his power to further the cause of the Cadet Force.
