Man charged with causing death in crash

Suresh Ramlal, 28, an electrical technician of Charles Street, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington.

The magistrate read the charge to Ramlal, which alleged that on October 10, 2005, he drove his vehicle dangerously, causing the death of Nevada Webb, 25. Ramlal was not called on to plead as the charge was laid indictably.

He was arrested on a warrant on Saturday and charged. A Justice of the Peace granted Ramlal $50,000 bail.

The charge stemmed from an accident in which a truck allegedly driven by Ramlal slammed into a car in which Webb, was a passenger. Webb, of Buen Intento Road, Hardbargain, died in the crash.

Ramlal was represented by attorney Kevin Ratiram. Magistrate Wellington transferred the case to the Traffic Court and adjourned it to January 17, 2007.
