Moruga woman kidnapped

Up to late yesterday the family of 20-year-old Candice Beharry had not received a ransom demand.

Beharry, of Edward Trace, is the daughter of Roddy and Chitricka Beharry, owners of a grocery and hardware in Moruga.

According to a police report, Beharry was driving out of La Fortune Road, Moruga, in her Honda Civic at 3.30 pm, when a stone struck her car.

Beharry stopped and a masked man emerged from the bushes and dragged her out of the car, the report stated. The man dragged the screaming woman into the bushes. Villagers contacted the police and officers of the Moruga and Princes Town Police Stations as well as the Anti-kidnapping Squad responded.

Police had requested the assistance of the National Security helicopter but Beharry had not been located up to late yesterday.

AKS officers are continuing investigations.
