Top cop blanks retirement function

The function, at which 39 officers who retired from the Police Service were honoured, took place at China Garden Restaurant in Siparia.

Paul was carded to deliver the feature address but failed to show up.

Delivering the address on Paul’s behalf was South ACP Fredericks.

He said it was sad to see experienced officers retiring from a service which still needed their experience and wisdom.

He said the service was lacking a system in which retiring police officers could contribute to the betterment of the service.

Among the retirees was Senior Supt Nimrod, who served for more than 30 years in the Police Service.

Altogether, the 39 officers honoured at the function had more than 500 years’ service.
