Reggae star samples ‘Cocktails’
After expressing his passionate feelings for the local culture, Mc Gregor also held talks with local promoters to perform at a super concert in Trinidad at the end of next month.
That concert is expected to feature Machel Montano.
But Mc Gregor couldn’t wait until then to enjoy the mas, so he took Pulse8 bandleader Meg Cheekes’ invitation to experience “Cocktails.”
Pulse8 is a start up outfit, following the disbanding of Poison, whose bandleader Michael Headley has bowed out of the Carnival mas circuit, although he was on hand at Zen to give Cheekes’ venture his blessing.
All 15 sections of “Cocktails” were featured in a stage show which unfortunately was a photographer’s nightmare.
Where photographers were positioned to take pictures was lower than the stage, making it difficult to get away from the stage lighting and excess fog.
Nevertheless the show went on with models portraying cocktails such as “Anti Freeze”, “Maitai,” “Sapphire Ice,” “Love Potion #9,” “Copacabana”, “Margarita Madness”, “Summer Passion,” “Melon Fever,” “Blue Lagoon,” “Enigma” and “Rum Sweet Rum.” But stealing the show was the section “Mojito” which was designed by Peter Elias.
Following the presentations, the band Imij & Co had the crowd jumping with its set of soca hits that got patrons into the Carnival spirit.
