Well done Sensei

Sensei Rodney became Trinidad and Tobago’s First Professional Welterweight Champion on Saturday August 26, 2006 at the “Day of Redemption” tournament held at the Chaguanas Indoor Arena.

Sensei Rodney has been one of the integral figures paving the road for aspiring amateur kickboxers with the National Kickboxing Council of Trinidad and Tobago (NKCTT), dedicating his life to the development of the sport, and to helping underprivileged youths in the Central area.

He is well known for his approachability and his willingness to assist those who need his help, and his selfless perseverance to get things done the right way.

In addition, he has produced many past and current National Amateur Kickboxing Champions, the latter who also participated and emerged victorious at the tournament, congratulations to them all as well. Nothing would be greater than to know that Sensei Rodney and his students will be encouraged to keep up the great work, and keep on reaching for the stars, no matter what people may say. Furthermore, Sensei Rodney is ranked ninth in the world by the International Kickboxing Federation’s (IKBF) 1996 world ratings, having participated in several regional/international tournaments and now being a national professional champion.

His portfolio is also extended in the NKCTT, as he is the Consultant Youths Director and the National Low Kick Coach, having escorted the National Amateur team to various regional competitions.

It is unfortunate, however, that he is not suitably recognised for his efforts and endless contributions to sports, youth development and community empowerment, even though his life does not surround fame and glory. I believe he should be considered by the relevant bodies for his contributions, he is absolutely deserving of it!

Congratulations once again, Sensei Rodney, and thank you for doing everything that you have done and continue to do for Trinidad and Tobago!
