Dr David Picou in Senate
Dr Picou was last week awarded the Chaconia (Gold) medal at the annual Independence Day awards ceremony at President’s House.
Dr Picou is a paediatrician who has researched severe malnutrition in infants. Up until the tea-break, Dr Picou had not spoken as the Senate debated a Bill to establish a trust fund to finance the Caribbean Court of Justice.
Yesterday’s sitting of the Senate saw an unusually high number of acting Senators, totalling five. In addition to Picou, there were Wayne Munro on the Opposition benches, and Magna Williams-Smith, Joan Hackshaw-Marcellin, and Nileung Hypolite for the Government.
