Yetming works for Dookeran

Yetming, MP for St Joseph, who said his support for Dookeran was never a secret, told Newsday, “I have been working with small political groups to bring them together to eventually join with Winston in whatever movement emerges with him.”

He said the other groups included the New Democratic Party, headed by Mike Sims, the Democratic Party of TT led by Steve Alvarez and the Grassroots Foundation with David John.

He said the response from the four groups had been positive, so far.

Asked what kind of support these groups would bring to Dookeran, and whether it would make a difference, he said, “Whatever the size of the following, it would certainly reduce the number of parties contesting the next general election which could affect the marginal seats, where a few votes make a difference.”

Yetming said he was not sure he would speak at Dookeran’s Sunday meeting at the Centre of Excellence because it was not finalised but said he has always been an open supporter of the political leader. He said he already made the reasons clear.

“There has been no change in direction,” he said.
