Terry Young Sing
Young Sing, who headed the foundation for the past 14 years handed over her responsibility to Hayden Newallo, a relative of present Director of Sports at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs Paul Newallo.
And Newallo, a teacher by profession told the gathering that as he has had prior experience on the foundation he was willing and ready to take on the duties from his colleague.
Young Sing has been described as an extremely hard and honest worker who always tried to lead by example.
In her stint at the foundation she rose to the position of chairman back in 1997 where her knowledge in sports and as an administrator were widely acknowledged.
During this period she had had to work with outstanding sports personalities and top administrators on a daily basis.
Young Sing who was also a former hockey star for the Ventures Hockey Club was a pillar in the foundation as all depended on her for one thing or another.
Ganteaume meanwhile was described as a man for all seasons. He represented Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies in cricket. In his first and only match for the Test team Ganteaume lashed a brilliant century but still could not cement a place on the West Indies cricket team.
His brother in-law and former national football captain Sedley Joseph said Ganteaume also played football and tennis for Maple and was a manager and selector for the national cricket team.
As a cricketer Ganteaume played an opening role in the foundation and Joseph said he hopes someone can come foward and play the kind of inning that Ganteaume did during his tenure at the foundation.
Ganteaume said the foundation has done a tremendous job in recognising sports personalities in Trinidad and Tobago.
During his stint there, he said he developed many friendships and relationships which allowed the organisation to grow.
He made it clear that the foundation despite the exit of himself and Young Sing, will last as long as the members want it to.
