Tobago alliance rally today

The alliance announced last week that former Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary, councillor Hochoy Charles will contest the Tobago East seat against the PNM’s Rennie Dumas, Congress of the People’s (COP) Hewlett Waldron and the Democratic National Assembly (DNA) candidate Natasha Second.

Pastor K Clifford Roberts will run for the Tobago West seat against the PNM’s Stanford Callendar, the COP’s Jonothan “Stone Cold” Stone and Colin Coker of the DNA.

Chairman of the steering committee and Minority Leader, Ashworth Jack, as well as former assemblywoman Deborah Moore-Miggins and pathologist Hughvon Des Vignes (both were initially named as the two alliance candidates) are expected to join the candidates as feature speakers.

The launch also comes with an entertainment package that includes the 2007 Tobago Calypso Monarch Sherwin Cunningham, seven time Calypso Monarch Calypso Prince and Tobago reggae sensation Gardah Knight.Tobago parang soca entertainer Bindley B is also expected to launch his election calypso at the event.

Despite a postponement last weekend, the COP will present its candidates tomorrow at the Scarborough Market starting at 3 pm.

COP political leader Winston Dookeran will be the feature speaker. Other speakers include Sharon Gopaul-Mc Nicol, Clyde Weatherhead, Zoba Samuel, Vernon de Lima and the candidates.

The ruling PNM will also roll its bandwagon into Tobago East tomorrow where it will introduce its candidates at the Roxborough Cultural Complex car park from 3.30 p.m.
