Former cricketer Bidhesi dies at 75
He was the father of Narine Bidhesi, captain of the present WC Wanderers of Brechin Castle, Couva.
Narine was managing a TT Under-21 cricket team that was touring Philadelphia, USA at the time of his father’s death.
He had to return home to attend the funeral which took place yesterday, according to Hindu rites.
Bidhesi, 75, was a former employee of Caroni (1975) Limited. He represented the Central Cricket Association and played other representative matches and performed well with both bat and ball.
He was eulogised by Desmond Baxter, a former county councillor, and executive member of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board.
Baxter said Bidhesi will be remembered for being an outstanding cricketer and family man, whose record is there for young cricketers to emulate.
Also paying tribute to Bidhesi was Forbes Persad, Chief Executive Officer of the TTCB.
Mangaroo Bidhesi was cremated at the Waterloo Cremation site following the funeral service.
