Shiv Shakti, Bheem in fund-raiser for Baby Hannah

Six-month-old Hannah Bhagwandeen is in urgent need of a liver transplant and the surgery cannot be performed in TT. To date TT$700,000 has been raised, but much more is needed since the surgery will cost $2 million.

Hannah’s mother, Thalia Badal Bhagwandeen, said several hospitals abroad were contacted and the only one that responded immediately and favourably was the Johns Hopkins International Hospital in the United States.

Hannah has already undergone a temporary drainage procedure at Johns Hopkins. “Since she came home she seem to be better but we are still worried that she might become really sick at any point in time. She is still jaundiced and her stomach is still swollen. Doctors told us that we have to keep a constant watch on her, since the veins on her chest are printing out, and they can burst at any time, with the pressure, in that case we would have to airlift her to have that corrected,” Thalia said.

The Chinmaya Mission has been hosting several fund-raising venture to assist. The transplant has to done by Hannah’s first birthday at the end of this year.

An account has been set up at Republic Bank Limited, with account number 470.471.211.701 Baby Hannah Liver Fund.
