Quaccoo topped PNM’s Roberts

In fact, the PNM incumbent Frank Roberts’ margin of loss to Rolly Quaccoo of the TOP in the Canaan/Bon Accord district was extended by one vote, making it five votes. Whereas the initial result was Quaccoo 874/Roberts 870, the final official figures show Quaccoo’s tally remaining unchanged while Roberts dropped to 869.

In the other district, Scarborough/Calder Hall, where the TOP’s Anthony Arnold challenged his loss to incumbent Chief Secretary Orville London by just over 200 votes (1031-828), Arnold lost one vote in the recount while London lost two, the final result being London 1029/Arnold 827. Meanwhile, it was reported that some 23,842 persons voted in the election. This represents just under 56 percent of the 42,736 persons on the island who were eligible to vote. The PNM secured 12,385 votes, which represents 52 percent of the total votes cast; while the TOP grabbed 48 percent (or 11,457 votes).

The members of the 2009-2013 Assembly will be sworn-in today by President George Maxwell Richards in a ceremony at the Assembly Chamber in Scarborough scheduled for 10 am, while Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries will be sworn-in at 11 am tomorrow.
