Murders — just 6 away from last year’s total

Up until late yesterday 166 persons were murdered for the year so far. Last year, the figure for the entire year was 172. There are three and a half months remaining for the year and the gang-related murders are expected to continue in Laventille. This means that on an average 13 persons were murdered per month last year, while up until yesterday the figure increased to an average of 19 persons murdered per month. This represents a marked increase of  46 percent in the number of persons killed per month. Police figures revealed that of the 166 persons killed for the year, 35 were gang-related.
