Cyrus hat-trick downs Carib in east
EX-Trinidad and Tobago striker Dexter Cyrus smashed in a hat-trick of goals for Police to edge Carib FC 3-2 in their Eastern Football Associa-tion encounter for the Arthur “Jap” Brown Trophy.
Cyrus’ heroics on Thursday afternoon cancelled out strikes by Billy Dee Scanterbury and Marvin Baggoo for the Brewery Boys. Carib’s defeat allowed Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan to open up a six-point lead at the top of the standings, after they squeaked past a determined Hearty Foods Boulls 1-0 on a goal by Wendell Isaac. Also on Thursday, Joe Public whipped East West Coaching School 4-1, with Aaron Rapper scoring a hat-trick and Keshan Theodore the other goal, while Alvin Guerra got the goal for the “schoolboys.” Kerwyn Charles scored twice and Clint Raymond the other goal for Athletico Sports Institute shut out BM Spurs 3-0. And Vladimir Suite was the third man to get a hat-trick for the afternoon, when he led JGS Maloney Two Touch to a 4-2 triumph over Delta Glass Young Hearts. Junior Williams got the fourth goal for the winners, while Mark Hernandez doubled for Young Hearts.
