WI U-19s beat TT in one-day

TRINIDAD and Tobago cricketers confidence were dealt a serious blow ahead of the Red Stripe Bowl cricket tournament, when they were beaten by six wickets by the West Indies Under-19 team in their third and final one-day  match at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain Village, Couva, yesterday.

Scores: TRINIDAD & TOBAGO 122 vs WI UNDER-19 123 for four wickets. Jonathan Augustus struck an aggressive 41 to carry the West Indies Under-19s past the Trinidad and Tobago total. He was well supported by Guyanese Asad Fudadin who scored an unbeaten 47. Dwayne Bravo was the best Trinidad and Tobago bowler taking two wickets for 25 runs. Earlier Trinidad and Tobago struggled on a lively pitch with Lionel Baker taking four for 25 and Mervyn Mathews four for 31. Despite yesterday’s defeat, Trinidad and Tobago won the series 2-1, after  dominating the first two games of the series. Manager Omar Khan said after the match, the defeat was  just a minor hiccup, but he hoped his players took note of it and not get complacent. Meanwhile the national team will continue their preparation on Tuesday at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Centre.
