Olympic f/ballers warm up against Costa Rica

Trinidad and Tobago’s Olympic football team will continue their preparations for the Athens  Olympic qualifiers with a friendly against Costa Rica’s Under-23 team at the Marvin Lee Stadium on October 8.

Coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier has scheduled a training session at the Brechin Castle Ground, Couva, tomorrow with both locally-based senior and Under-23 players involved. Fevrier has been conducting sessions with his assistants, Brian Williams, Ross Russell and Anthony Streete. Fevrier is hoping to have the services of English-based Watford striker Jason Norville for the Olympic team. Norville, 20, recently made his debut for TT against Morocco.  Fevrier meantime is focusing on getting the locally-based players ready for their upcoming matches including the 2006 World Cup qualifiers which start next February, and the Athens Olympics. TT await the winner of the Cayman Islands/Grenada tie for their second round battle in November. The local team, along with Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, St Lucia and United States have already qualified for the second round, while 12 nations are still battling for the six remaining berths as their respective first round matches conclude on October 12. The seven remaining teams after the conclusion of the second round series will join hosts Mexico in the final round of CONCACAF qualification from February 2 to 12 for the two berths in the  Olympic Games.
