Those arrested were held for outstanding warrants for robberies, larceny of vehicles, woundings, and other serious crimes.
Police believe that they may be able to get a major breakthrough in some recent robberies with the arrest of some of the suspects yesterday.
The exercise formed part of a new anti-crime initiative to deal with certain types of crime being committed in the city. Those arrested are expected to be placed on ID parade today.

The purpose of the Cybercrime Bill, 2015 is to provide for the creation of offences related to cyber crime and for other related matters in Trinidad and Tobago.
Maharaj in her presentation said that with this country in a global environment, electronic crimes can happen locally and they do. She added that the banking sector on a daily basis has to put systems in place to address financial or other crimes in a digital environment.
She also said in this increasingly connected global environment Trinidad and Tobago needs to keep apace and for this reason for the past decade the ICT legislative framework has been developed.
On the Data Protection Bill, which has been partially proclaimed, Maharaj said the Ministry of Public Affairs and Communications is currently putting things in place to ensure the implementation of the Information Commissioner and in the short term it is an “immediate priority”.

Jabloteh, who tied the game nine minutes from time through substitute Kennedy Hinkson, had a solid start in the shootout.

In a Match Day 20 clash at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, Police registered a 2-1 win over the league leaders and, in the process, moved up two places to third.
Keron Clarke got things going for the lawmen in the 34th minute but Santa Rosa responded, courtesy of an own goal, in the 66th. However, Police got the winner seven minutes from full-time, through Kareem Perry in the 83rd.
Defence Force stayed in second spot after a similar 2-1 result over 1976 FC Phoenix, at the Canaan Recreation Ground.
The evergreen Dominique Kerr found the back of the net for Phoenix, in the 43rd, but the Army-Coast Guard combination replied with strikes from Josimar Belgrave (50th) and Ronald St Louis (79th).
Table proppers Marabella Family Crisis registered only their fourth win of the season when they blanked Siparia Spurs 4-2 at Irwin Park in Siparia. Juma Clarence scored a pair for Marabella, in the 25th and 64th minutes, while Kerville Jeremiah (15th) and Kurlan Khan (31st) netted one each. Finding the back of the net for Siparia Spurs were Marvin Seuradge (37th) and Marcus Kelly (80th).
In a high-scoring affair at the Palo Seco Velodrome, Petrotrin Palo Seco and Real Maracas FC fought to a 4-4 draw. Tigana Sparks (19th and 32nd) scored a double for Palo Seco, with Xavier Seales (63rd) and Bevon Bass (86th) chipping in with one apiece.
Kheelon Mitchell (54th and 80th) notched a pair for Maracas, with Marvin Manswell (21st) and Ricardo Bennett (82nd) getting the others.
There was another game where the points were shared, with Bethel United and Queen’s Park featuring in a 2-2 draw.
Bethel were rewarded with goals from Dwane Marcelle (49th) and Kevon Woodley (70th) while Kevaughn John (53rd and 81st) struck twice for the Parkites.
At the New Lands Ground in Guayaguayare, Guaya United and Club Sando Moruga battled to a 1-1 tie. Jody Allsop’s 67th minute equaliser proved vital for Guaya, after Nigel John put Club Sando ahead in the fifth.
In the day’s other fixture, Matura Re- United and WASA played to a goalless stalemate at the Arima Velodrome.
The members of the national team heading to the Sambo World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria are Gersome Griffith (52 kg), Keron Bourne (57 kg), Martin Joseph (90 kg), Kelvin Guy (100 kg) and Jeremy Rudolfo (100-plus kg).
The Championships will take place from today until Wednesday.

Also in attendance was the president of the TTS F Jason Fraser, who said, “this is history for the TT Sambo Federation to be meeting a sitting Minister two years straight.” He added that he appreciated the work being done by the Permanent Secretary and the Minister as they have gone beyond the call of duty in the past in assisting the sport.
He ended by requesting a home for Sambo and thanked the Ministry for believing in the Federation.
Also speaking, was injured athlete, Joash Walkins, silver medallist at the World Championships in Casa Blanca, Morocco in 2015.
Walkins said, “I have been into martial arts for 15 years and this is the most support I have ever received from any sport governing body and I am really grateful and thankful for believing in us and helping us in our quest for greatness.”
The men from Speyside shut out Roxborough Lakers 2-0 at the Cyd Gray Stadium to leapfrog the Lakers into second place.
The victory gave Sidey’s 28 points, just four back of Leeds United and they have two games in hand. Also in the Premier Division, Goal City whipped Mason Hall USSS 3-0 at the Moriah Ground while Stokely Vale edged Georgia 1-0 at Plymouth.
In Championshp, Division action, Signal Hll United hold a seven-point lead over Bethel United after their 3-0 victory over FC Goodwood at their home ground.
Bethel kept on their heels with a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over third placed Lambeau at Mt Gomery.
Lowly Earlbrokes edged Charlotteville Unifiers 3-2 at at Goodwood, to join them at 10 points each. But in Division One, there were goals aplenty with Mt Grace United drubbing Youth Stars Developmental Team 11-0, and Belle Garden dumping Federal Northside 5-2. Also Hope Village Milan whipped St Clair’s Coaching School 5-2 and Calder Hall beat Mason Hall Police Youth Club 4-1.
At 7pm, there will be the third place playoff, with $3,000 at stake, between Baggoo Himalaya Tough Guys and WASA.
Blasters are still unbeaten after five matches and seem to be comfortable whereas Gladiators appeared to have peaked at the right time as they won their last three matches so it promises to be an entertaining encounter.
Blasters and Gladiators registered comfortable victories in their semi-final matches as they both won 4-2 against Baggoo Himalaya and WASA respectively on Tuesday.
Alaric Humphreys was outclassed by David Mahabir 3-1 (11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-3). Aaron Wilson pulled it back with a hard-fought victory over top Barbadian player Mark Dowell 3-2 (11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-5).
Reeza Burke easily defeated clubmate Lionel Dareceuil 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 12-10). The lone victory for the Baggoo team on the second table came from Anil Ramlakhan when he defeated Zeke Huggins 3-1 (11-13, 11-7, 11-7, 11-7). Luc O`Young and Joshua Maxwell defeated Wesley Dookhoo and Vinoo Maraj 3-0 and 3-2 respectively.
Guyanese Joel Alleyne gave Gladiators the early lead after beating Franklyn Seechan 3-1 (12-10, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7) then his fellow countryman Shemar Britton made light of work of Curtis Humphreys as he won 3-0 (11- 5, 11-7, 11-7). Aaron Edwards sealed the victory with a comeback victory against Kenneth Parmanand 3-1 (9-11, 12-10, 11- 6, 11-8).
This was the first time in the tournament that a team won all three matches on either the first or second table. Once again on the second table Gladiators selected an all-female team of Linda Boodhan, Aleena and Astra Edwards but only Aleena was victorious this time as she won against Ancil Russell 3-1 (8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-9).
Burke, the five-time national champion, spoke confidently after Blasters semi-final victory.
“We are ready and up for the challenge! Our chances are good especially given the way Aaron is playing and the strength and balance of our second table players, Alaric has been in good form recently and I love to compete and hopefully I can chip in with a valuable win as well.” The hard-hitting right hander was also weary of his opponents.
He said, “Gladiators have also shown a desire to win, with strong performances from both first and second tables but the draw can have the biggest impact in terms who will win on the night.” Multiple national champion Aleena Edwards shared the same confidence as Burke by saying, “our chances are high and the aim is to win the top prize.
We came very close to winning against them in the round robin phase and once we work out our strategy well we should be successful.”
Contributing so far to the tournament are Rattansingh Tyre Service in Chaguanas which donated $5,000, and We Haul Trucking and Transport Service in Champ Fleurs, which handed over $1,000.
Their contribution will go to the tournament’s medal fund.
The tournament will be held at the Maloney Sport Complex on November 26 and 27.

The Red Force will face Windward Islands in Round One starting tomorrow, followed by Barbados Pride in Round Two and Leeward Islands Hurricanes in Round Three – all at the Queen’s Park Oval in St Clair.
Ottley said starting strong at home is important saying, “It’s about defending your home court, doing well and actually taking as much points as you can from those home games and also doing well abroad in order to win the tournament. Our home court here is the Oval and we looking to come out good starting (tomorrow).”
Ottley is confident the Red Force can make a run for the title this year, a title that has eluded them for 10 years. “Definitely (we could make a run for the title this year). It’s like a clean slate this season, we have a bunch of guys that have been together for a while. During the preparation we were preparing mentally to win these two tournaments (Four Day and Super50) so this game here on Friday is where we start.”
The Red Force’s opening match is a day/night match using the pink ball and the captain said his team did get some time to practice with the ball. “We had a trial game with it (pink ball) and a few sessions with it. Just like anything else it’s about getting suited to the conditions and assessing what is there.”
There are two Barbadians in Kyle Hope and Roshon Primus in the squad, along with Jamaican Sheldon Cottrell and Ottley says the players are gelling with the team. “Kyle Hope is back and we also have Sheldon Cottrell and Roshon Primus. It is good to have these guys with a different culture. Cottrell brings a lot of aggressive culture with his pace as well so it will good to incorporate these guys with the Trini guys. We have a well rounded squad and also there is depth so that will make us go for the title as well.”
The Red Force batsmen have fell short last season but Ottley is hoping the batsmen can transfer the form they showed during the trial matches. “It starts from there (trial matches). It was good to see about five centurions during the trial matches, so it will good for us to transfer that form into the tournament.”
Akiel Cooper (104), Jyd Goolie (107 not out), Jeremy Solozano (103 not out), Ottley (101) and Isaiah Rajah (127 not out) all made centuries in the trial matches. Goolie, Solozano and Ottley are in the 13-man squad for the opening match bowling off at 3 pm tomorrow.
Several meetings and on site viewing have been conducted with all the different arms of the protective services, TT FA security officials and SPORTT (Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago) to ensure that there would be a comprehensive Security Operational Plan, and all of this would be monitored and coordinated through a Venue Operations Centre in the Stadium on matchday.
That being the case, spectators can feel comfortable to know that all that is required to ensure their safety and security has and would be implemented as meticulous security arrangements have been made starting as soon as the teams land in Trinidad.
A thorough research was conducted to rectify matters of the past that may have inconvenienced patrons, and even though there will be strict security protocols implemented, due to intense meetings and planning by a professional Security Secretariat that was set up to ensure that this game would be incident free.
Systems will be implemented to also ensure that there would be no undue frustration for spectators such as long lines and waiting periods to enter the venue.
The TT FA will however seek the support of the public to ensure that such concerns can be even further reduced, if they can adhere to these regulations, and this would cause the entrance into the Stadium to be made even easier for all.
There will be five specific gates that provide access to the Hasely Crawford Stadium – main entrance, next to St John’s Ambulance headquarters, between Jean Pierre Sports Complex car park entrance and St John’s Ambulance, opposite Lion’s Gate and Castro Gate.
No tickets will be on sale at the match venue tomorrow but will remain on sale until 7 pm at Lotto locations within the vicinity of the Hasely Crawford Stadium. There will be no parking for patrons inside the Stadium except for working personnel and match day officials, team buses and emergency and protective services vehicles.
Gates open at 4pm.
Patrons are asked to have tickets in hand upon entering the security checkpoints.
