Woman dies giving birth

A Barrackpore family was plunged into mourning yesterday after a 34-year-old woman died while giving birth at her Barrackpore home.

Although up to press time information was sketchy, Newsday understands that around 10 am, the 34-year-old woman was giving birth to her eighth baby at her Rochard Road home yesterday when she passed away. However, her baby boy survived and is warded at the San Fernando General Hospital. An autopsy was expected to be performed yesterday at the mortuary of the hospital. Barrackpore Police are continuing investigations.
