All’s well in Cabinet

ACTING PRIME MINISTER Joan Yuille-Williams said yesterday all’s well within the PNM Cabinet, after Prime Minister Patrick Manning reshuffled it. Addressing the first post-Cabinet meeting since last week’s reshuffle, Yuille-Williams described the atmosphere within the Cabinet yesterday as “very cordial, very relaxed.” She said some Cabinet notes were not dealt with because Ministers were still getting acquainted with their new portfolios, but all other business was dealt with efficiently. “Members are usually very co-operative. I don’t know if they were very kind to me, but they always are  and therefore it was very cordial,” the Acting PM said with a smile. Asked whether an alleged brawl between students from two Port-of-Spain schools was discussed at Cabinet, Yuille-Williams replied: “No that was not raised, but I know the Minister of Education was talking about it. I myself as a former teacher was enquiring about what had happened.

That was a serious problem and I know the Minister was looking into it.” Returning briefly to her Community Development and Culture portfolio, Yuille-Williams announced that the Gujarat Folk Dancers of India will be visiting Trinidad and Tobago from November 14 to November 21. She said the group will make a guest performance at the Best Village competition finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah and hold workshops and other performances in other parts of the country.
