Man’s leg amputated after shooting
A TUNAPUNA man’s right leg was amputated by doctors at the Port-of- Spain General Hospital on Saturday morning after an emergency operation failed to save the limb following gunshot wounds he received from intruders at his home. Around 6.15 am on Saturday, Gerald Saxon, 20, was at his Back Street, Tunapuna home when two men, whom he knew entered and began arguing with him over money.
A fight ensued and one of the men whipped out a gun and shot him in the right leg before running off to a nearby waiting car. The bleeding man was rushed to the hospital where all efforts failed to save the leg. The leg was eventually amputated. Police were eventually called in and a report was made. When contacted police ruled out robbery as the motive. Constable Stephenson is continuing inquiries.
