Dolsingh honoured by Canada
President of the Trinidad and Tobago Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Hubert Dolsingh, has been honoured by the government of Ontario for outstanding voluntary service work in Canada over the past ten years. Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Dr Marie Bountro-gianni and the Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty, made the presentation recently during the 2003 Ontario Volunteer Service Awards ceremony, at the Oasis Convention and Banquet Centre, Mississauga, Ontario.
Dolsingh was nominated for the award by organisations he had been assisting voluntarily and international students to whom he had been guide, counsellor and patron in special educational projects in Canada. Hubert Dolsingh is the recipient of the Humming Bird Gold Medal for outstanding service to TT. He is mostly known as a national insurance consultant, but also serves as Chairman of the TT Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, President of the TT Foundation for the Physi-cally Handicapped and Vice Chairman of the Indian Home Trust for the Needy and Physically disabled. He is also a Commissioner of Affidavits.
