New chutney-kaiso tent in TT

Plans are being put in place for the opening of a brand new chutney/calypso tent in TT. The tent which will be called the National Chutney Calypso Roving Tent of TT (NCCRT) is being managed by  Ramchand Rajbal. Members of the management team of NCCRT, recently revealed the plans for the new tent. According to Rajbal, patrons will get the opportunity to see a line up of top local artistes doing new compositions with political, social and humorous lyrics. “The chutney-soca beat is popular in TT. In fact it is in demand at many of the calypso tents and this is why we decided to give the people of this country an opportunity to enjoy a full tent of chutney-soca,” he said.

Among those who have agreed to sing for NCCRT are: Adesh Samaroo, Drupatie Ramgoonai, Heeralal Rampartap, Devanand Gatoo, Rakesh Yankaran, Rooplal Girdharie, Sarah Ramkallie, Ras Kommanda, Marva Mc Kenzie and others. The roving tent is carded to open on January 16 at the Community Centre Car Park. It will be travelling to many parts of the country during the Carnival season. Members of the management team include, Vijay Mahabir, Don Sylvestor, Indarjit Seepersad, Carl Narinejit, and Indar Kamal.
