Police get 30% wage hike

Police officers have accepted salary increases of at least 30 percent. About 200 officers attended a meeting on Saturday of the Police Second Division at the Old Police Headquarters to consider the proposals of the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) for the years 2002 to 2004. Inclusive of allowances, a senior constable will now get a monthly salary of $7,585; a senior corporal gets $8,405; a senior sergeant gets $9,885; and a senior inspector gets $11,115. Officers of the Police First Division earlier also voted to accept the offer made to them by the CPO.
