2 shot in Central supermarket

A Chaguanas businessman and his friend were shot by bandits while at the businessman’s place on Sunday afternoon.

According to police reports, businessman Indar Chattergoon and his friend 18-year-old Jonathan Ryan were at Chattergoon’s supermarket when they were accosted by three armed men. The men demanded cash from Chattergoon, who resisted. The bandits, angered by the resistance, fired at the businessman and his friend. Chattergoon was shot in the head and back, while Ryan was hit in the groin. The men escaped with an undisclosed sum of money.

The two injured men were rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where they underwent emergency surgery. Checks with hospital officials yesterday revealed that both men were resting in satisfactory condition. Inspector Raphael, Sgt Dennis Housend, PCs Marlon Alexander and Christopher Langley along with Act Sgt Agith Persad visited the scene and are conducting investigations.
