PM helps out with hampers
Prime Minister Patrick Manning on Tuesday distributed Christmas hampers to needy individuals from his San Fernando East constituency. Speaking at a media briefing after the very short presentation of hampers at his constituency office, Manning said, “This year over 1,500 hampers have been distributed to the needy people, who cannot provide for themselves, throughout the country to make them all cheery and bright for the Christmas season.”
Manning also stated that although the Government is accustomed to giving out hampers on an annual basis, it is the first time that he, personally, took up the initiative in distributing approximately 100 hampers on behalf of his constituency. He also added that it certainly is the first year but it definitely would not be the last. The Prime Minister wished all the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago great prosperity and better security for the New Year 2004. Manning told reporters that he had nothing extravagant planned for Christmas day, but would be spending the day in serene peace and quiet at his Vistabella home with his loved ones.
